Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Florida Homeowner Plug collects when you use this website and what we do with it. Questions: use our contact form.

What we collect

• Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, the date and time you agreed to receive email, and the page you signed up from.
• Get Featured and Contact forms: the details you type in (such as name, email, business details and your message), the date you agreed to be contacted, whether you also asked for the newsletter, and the page you sent it from.
• Spam protection: to limit abuse we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for about an hour. We don’t store your raw IP address with your submission.
• Analytics: if enabled, Google Analytics 4 records how pages are used (for example, pages viewed and buttons clicked) using cookies. Advertising features are turned off. You can switch analytics off for this browser with the “Privacy choices” link at the bottom of every page.

How we use it

• To reply to your message or submission, and to research possible stories.
• To send the newsletter, only if you asked for it. Every newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe.
• To understand which articles are useful, so we can improve them.

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the site for us (such as our web host and, if enabled, our email and analytics providers), or when required by law.

How long we keep it

• Form submissions: up to 24 months after we last corresponded, then deleted, unless they relate to a published story and we need them as a record.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Story evidence (documents shared for Warning Center reporting): stored privately with restricted access, kept only as long as needed to support the story.

Your choices

Ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you through our contact form. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

Children

This site is meant for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the bottom of this page.
